Three Ways to Start: Pick Your Course
Kite Club Koh Samui teaches three IKO courses that stack on top of each other. You can book one, see how it goes, and continue later. Private lessons are one student per instructor; group lessons pair two students with one instructor and run longer for the same price.

A Typical Lesson Day at the Beach
Your instructor meets you on the sand, checks the forecast with you and explains the plan for the session. Kites are set up together so you learn the equipment as well as the riding. Each lesson ends with a short debrief: what went well, what to focus on next time and when the next good wind window is likely.
- Everything is supplied — kites in a range of sizes, bar and safety system, board, harness, helmet and impact vest.
- IKO structure — the progression follows the IKO syllabus, and your level is recorded when you complete it.
- Your language — instructors teach in English, Russian, Arabic, German and Ukrainian.
Lamai or Nathon: Where Your Lessons Happen
Samui gets wind from two monsoons, and Kite Club moves with them. The school runs on Lamai Beach on the east coast during the north-east monsoon, and on Nathon Beach on the west coast, next to the town and ferry pier, during the south-west monsoon.

Flying into Samui airport (USM) for a short stay? Choose a hotel near the active beach: Lamai or Chaweng in the east-coast season, Nathon or Maenam mid-year. It makes jumping on a sudden good wind window much easier.
Reserving Your Lessons
Booking is done by WhatsApp on +66 99 312 9042. A quick message with the following saves a lot of back and forth:
- your arrival and departure dates and where you are staying on the island
- the course you have in mind, or "not sure yet"
- how many people are learning and whether you prefer private or group
- any previous kite or board-sport experience
- the language you would like to be taught in
We reply with the beach that is running during your dates and proposed lesson times based on the forecast. If the wind drops on a planned day, the lesson is simply moved to the next suitable window.
Questions Before Booking
If you are curious but unsure, start with Discovery (5,000 THB). If you already know you want to ride, the Full Beginner course (14,000 THB) is the more direct route, as it covers the Discovery material and continues to water starts and first rides.
Private lessons are one student per instructor and shorter: 2-hour sessions. Group lessons are two students per instructor and 3-hour sessions. The course price is the same either way.
From December to April lessons run at Lamai Beach on the east coast. From May to October they run at Nathon Beach on the west coast. We confirm the beach when you book.
No. All kitesurfing equipment is included, and the first lesson starts from zero. You should be comfortable in the sea and tell us about any injuries in advance.
