Planning

Packing for a kite trip to Koh Samui is simpler than you might think: warm water means no wetsuit, and lessons include all the equipment. What matters most is protection from the sun.

Sun Protection

  • Long-sleeve rash guard (or two, so one can dry)
  • Reef-friendly, water-resistant sunscreen with high SPF
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • Sunglasses with a strap
  • A hat or cap for the beach

In the Water

  • Swimwear or board shorts
  • Optional: water shoes if you prefer
  • No wetsuit needed — the water is 27–30 °C all year

Gear: Bring or Leave?

  • Learning? Leave it all at home — kite, bar, board, harness, helmet and vest are included in lessons.
  • Independent rider? Bring your harness if you have one that fits well; rent the rest, or bring your quiver and store it with us at the beach.
  • Bringing a kite bag? Check your airline’s sports-equipment rules and fees before you pack.

  • Travel insurance that covers kitesurfing and water sports
  • IKO or IWO card (or the app) if you plan to rent
  • A bank card with low foreign fees, plus some cash

  • Refillable water bottle
  • Waterproof phone pouch
  • Basic first aid: plasters, antiseptic, after-sun
  • A light rain jacket if you travel October–December (rainy season)
