The Perfect Kitesurf Destination
Lamai Beach on the east coast December–April, Nathon Beach on the west coast May–October. The school moves with the monsoon.

Why Koh Samui
Works for Kiting
Koh Samui gets both monsoons, so we ride two coasts. From December to April the NE monsoon blows onto Lamai Beach, a long sandy beach of about 4 km on the east coast with Lamai village, restaurants and accommodation for every budget close by. From May to October the SW monsoon favours the west coast, and we move to Nathon Beach next to Nathon town and the main ferry pier.
All services move with the season — kitesurfing, wing foil, windsurfing and e-foil lessons, kayak and SUP, rental and storage. October–November is a transition with lighter, variable wind; on no-wind days we run e-foil, kayak and SUP.
Water temperature stays between 27–30°C all year, so no wetsuit is needed. Off the water, Koh Samui has everything from Chaweng and Lamai nightlife to Fisherman's Village in Bophut, the Big Buddha, the Na Muang waterfalls and day trips to Ang Thong National Marine Park.

Koh Samui
Koh Samui is Thailand's second-largest island and one of the easiest kite destinations to reach: Samui International Airport (USM) has direct flights from Bangkok (about 1 hour, Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways) and from some Asian hubs such as Singapore and Hong Kong. On a budget, fly to Surat Thani and take the bus and ferry from Donsak to Nathon (about 1–1.5 hours on the ferry).
The main season is December–April at Lamai Beach, with the NE monsoon typically at 12–20 knots and most consistent January–March — enough wind to learn comfortably without being intimidating. From May to October we teach at Nathon Beach, where the SW monsoon typically blows 10–18 knots and is more variable, with afternoons usually best.
Getting around the island is easy by taxi, songthaew, scooter rental or Grab/Bolt. Our neighbour island Koh Phangan, home of our sister school, is about 30 minutes away by speedboat or catamaran.
Courses &
Certification
Kite Club Koh Samui runs the full IKO programme — Discovery (5,000 THB), Full Beginner (14,000 THB) and Independent Rider (20,000 THB) — with all equipment included. Lessons follow the season: Lamai Beach from December to April, Nathon Beach from May to October.
The island has grown into a year-round watersports community. Beyond kitesurfing, wing foil, e-foil, SUP, and kayaking are all on offer — making it easy to stay active even on lighter-wind days.
As IKO and IWO certified instructors, we follow international teaching standards. Courses are recognised worldwide — your IKO card from Koh Samui is valid at any IKO school globally.
