Carrying a kite bag between a hotel, a taxi and the beach every day gets old fast. On Koh Samui you can leave your kit at our beach base and walk down with nothing but sunscreen. Here is how storage works, what it costs and how to keep your gear healthy in the tropics.

The Samui Problem: Two Coasts, One Kite Bag
Samui has two kite seasons on two different coasts. From December to April we ride at Nahai Beach on the south-east coast, next to Hua Thanon village. From May to October the south-west monsoon moves the action to Nathon Beach on the west coast, beside the ferry pier. Most riders stay in Lamai, Chaweng or Bophut, which means 10 to 40 minutes by car with a board bag on the back seat — every single session.
Storing your gear at the spot removes that trip. Our base moves with the season, so your kite, bar and board move with it. You arrive, the kit is there, and you are rigging within minutes.
What Storage Costs
Storage is part of our rider passes. The same prices apply at Nahai and Nathon:

Full details are on the storage & membership page. For a two-week trip the Week Pass works out far cheaper than paying day by day; if you are here for the season, the Month Pass costs about 165 THB a day.
What You Can Leave With Us
- Kites and bars (any brand)
- Twin-tips, surfboards and foil boards
- Wing foil wings, boards and foils
- Harnesses, wetsuits, helmets and impact vests
Label every bag with your name and phone number. Foils should be stored disassembled or with the mast protected, and we recommend a board bag for anything with fins.
Keeping Gear Healthy in Tropical Heat
UV and heat are the biggest enemies of kite equipment on Samui, not the storage itself. A few habits make a big difference:
- Rinse after every session — there is a freshwater shower and wash-down area at the base. Salt crystals in the canopy and bar lines are what wear gear out.
- Never leave a kite pumped in the sun — heat expands the air in the bladders. Deflate it partly as soon as you are done.
- Dry before packing — a damp kite packed into a bag in 30 °C heat will smell and mould within days.
- Check lines monthly — pigtails and bridle knots wear fastest in sandy conditions.
Leaving for more than a few weeks? Let the kite dry completely, deflate it to about half pressure and roll it loosely from the wingtips. Tightly folded canopies crease along the leading edge seam.
What Happens When the Season Changes
At the end of April we move from Nahai to Nathon; at the end of October we move back. If you are storing through the changeover, your gear moves with the base — just message us so we know it is yours and where you want it.
October and November are the transition months with light, variable wind and the start of the rainy season. It is a good time to pack gear away properly and have kites checked before the NE monsoon season at Nahai.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a Kite Club student to store gear?
No. Storage is open to any rider with their own equipment. You just need one of the rider passes — from 400 THB per day with storage, 2,000 THB per week or 5,000 THB per month.
Where exactly is the storage?
At our beach base: Nahai Beach on the south-east coast from December to April, and Nathon Beach on the west coast from May to October.
Can I store wing foil and foil gear too?
Yes. Wings, boards, masts and foils are all fine. Please protect foil edges and pack masts separately if possible.
