Wing foiling uses a handheld inflatable wing to generate power, combined with a hydrofoil board that lifts out of the water. Unlike kitesurfing there are no lines or harness. The wing is held in your hands and dropped instantly. It works in lighter wind and is considered easier to start.
Most beginners can ride downwind on the foil within 4-8 hours of instruction. Upwind riding typically takes 10-20 hours total. The first session focuses on the wing on a large SUP board without foiling.
10-20 knots is the ideal range for learning. At Lamai Beach (December-April) the NE monsoon typically brings 12-20 knots, most consistent January-March. At Nathon Beach (May-October) the SW monsoon typically brings 10-18 knots.
Generally yes for the first few hours. There are no lines to manage, no harness, and the wing can be dropped safely at any time. Setup takes 5 minutes vs 20 for a kite. However, foil riding itself has a steeper learning curve.
IWO (International Wingfoil Organization) is the certification standard for wing foiling, equivalent to IKO in kitesurfing. You receive a digital IWO card after each course level. IWO Level 3 is the standard required for wing foil rental at most schools worldwide.
All equipment is included: wing, foil board, mast, front wing, and impact vest. We use Slingshot and Cabrinha wings. You bring swimwear and a rash guard. A helmet is recommended and provided.
Yes. Existing kitesurfers generally progress faster because they already understand wind, body position in water, and water starts. Most experienced kitesurfers can foil upwind within 3-4 sessions.
Intro (1 lesson, 2h): 4,000 THB. Beginner Course (3 lessons, 6h): 11,900 THB. Advanced Course (5 lessons, 10h): 18,000 THB. All prices include IWO certification upon completion.

Yes. The Intro lesson starts from zero. No surfing, kiting, or foiling experience required. Being comfortable in open water is the only prerequisite.
